Jim Gaffigan Louisville reviews
Show was great/venue could be better
The show itself was great. The venue...
We had dinner reservations nearby for 7pm, so we parked in the garage between the Lyric and the Meyerhoff and walked. We could see the line for the first show (I think it actually started at 7pm) was wrapped around the building to the corner. We finished dinner early and returned to the venue by 9pm for the 9:30pm show. The line was double-wrapped to the corner already and growing. It seems they had ONE entrance to check bags/purses and walk through a body scanner, the other entrance was for those without any items to carry. We finally were inside 15 minutes AFTER showtime, hearing only a few minutes of the warm-up. I feel like 30 minutes prior to arrival was pretty decent on our part--could have been in and seated if the venue had prepared properly.
Also, the leg room in this historic venue is for an age when the population was much shorter. I'm 5;7" and my partner is 5'10" and we were both crushed against the seats in front of us. The person next to us was over 6' and had to sit splay-legged the whole time...no fun for me, but obviously he had nowhere to go without sitting fetal style on his small chair.
Can't imagine going back to this venue again.
